Wojciech Regulski (Symkom sp. z o. o. – ANSYS Select Channel Partner w Polsce) Optimized CFD Simulations: Mesh Adaptation, Turbulence Tuning, Multiphase Modeling and AI enhancements in ANSYS

Advancements in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) rely on efficient optimization strategies
and adaptive meshing techniques to enhance accuracy and reduce computational costs.
This presentation explores possibilities for optimization and mesh adaptation in ANSYS CFD
simulations, focusing on automated refinement strategies and solution-driven adaptations. A
key aspect involves the optimization and tuning of turbulence models, in particular, the
Generalized k-ω (GEKO) model, which offers tunable parameters for enhanced flexibility
across different flow regimes. Additionally, the discussion will cover multiphase modeling
approaches, highlighting the selection and switching criteria for the Volume of Fluid (VOF),
Eulerian, Mixture, and Discrete Phase Models (DPM) to accurately capture phase
interactions. Finally, a set of AI-driven enhancements to supplement the above are
discussed.
